
I am currently available for micro:bit workshops both in person and online for learners and educators.
I am a primary teacher and digital learning educator based in Moray. I was part of the Digital Learning Team supporting educators and learners in the use of technology. I have developed and delivered a series of lesson resources for micro:bit and delivered workshops to more than 2000 learners across 40 schools. micro:bit Starter Lesson 💻💡
- A lesson which introduces learners to the features of the micro:bit and how to code simple programs. Designed for learners in P4 (Age 7) upwards who have little or no experience of the micro:bit. This is my most popular workshop, I have delivered this to more than 100 classes.
- You will need access to devices with internet connection (e.g. Laptops, PCs, Chromebooks or iPads) between 2-3 learners.
- You will also need micro:bits – (Every Scottish School should have at least 20 micro:bits from an Education Scotland roll out).
- I will need access to a screen ideally an interactive panel.
- Suggested timing 1-1.5hrs.
micro:bit Beyond Basics 💻⚡
- A lesson which explores some more advanced features of the micro:bit. Designed for learners in P4 (Age 7) upwards who have completed my starter lesson resources or other block of lessons with the micro:bit before.
- You will need access to devices with internet connection (e.g. Laptops, PCs, Chromebooks or iPads) between 2-3 learners.
- You will also need micro:bits – (Every Scottish School should have at least 20 micro:bits from an Education Scotland roll out).
- I will need access to a screen ideally an interactive panel.
- Suggested timing 1-1.5hrs.
micro:bit Data Analysis Lesson 📈
- A lesson which explores the data logging features of the micro:bit. Collecting and analysing real life data from your classroom environment. Designed for learners in P6 (Age 9) upwards who have had some experience of the micro:bit before such as my starter or beyond basics lessons.
- You will need access to devices with internet connection (e.g. Laptops, PCs, Chromebooks or iPads) between 2-3 learners.
- You will also need micro:bits – (Every Scottish School should have at least 20 micro:bits from an Education Scotland roll out).
- I will need access to a screen ideally an interactive panel.
- Suggested timing 1-1.5hrs.
micro:bit Create AI Lesson 📈
- A lesson which explores AI using the micro:bit. Learners will train their own AI model to recognise movement using the micro:bit. Designed for learners in P4 (Age 7) upwards who have had some experience of the micro:bit before such as my starter or beyond basics lessons.
- You will need access to devices with internet connection (e.g. Laptops, PCs, Chromebooks or iPads) between 2-3 learners.
- You will also need micro:bits – (Every Scottish School should have at least 20 micro:bits from an Education Scotland roll out).
- I will need access to a screen ideally an interactive panel.
- Suggested timing 1-1.5hrs.
For online workshops I suggest 45mins-1hour where I deliver either a shortened version of one of the above or choose a different project for learners to code along with.
In person/online CPD training for school staff
Making the most of the micro:bit 💻💡
- In this session I will explore the features of a micro:bit, how to create and download code and how to include it in the curriculum. Staff will have the opportunity to get hands on with the micro:bit and code it themselves. They will be signposted to resources for them to make the most of the micro:bit in their classes.
- Staff should have access to a Laptop/Chromebook/iPad with an internet connection and your school’s box of micro:bits (Scottish Schools should have at least 20 micro:bits from an Education Scotland roll out).
- I will need access to a screen ideally an interactive board.
- Suggested timing 1-2 hour
Maths with the micro:bit 📈➕➖➗
- In this session I will explore using the micro:bit in maths lessons, including creating dice, counters, using variables and data logging.
- Staff should have access to a Laptop/Chromebook/iPad with an internet connection and your school’s box of micro:bits (Scottish Schools should have at least 20 micro:bits from an Education Scotland roll out).
- I will need access to a screen ideally an interactive board.
- Suggested timing 1-2 hours.
Science with the micro:bit ⚡🧲
- In this session I will explore using the micro:bit in science lessons for topics such as magnetism, conductivity, temperature, sound and light.
- Staff should have access to a Laptop/Chromebook/iPad with an internet connection and your school’s box of micro:bits (Scottish Schools should have at least 20 micro:bits from an Education Scotland roll out).
- I will need access to a screen ideally an interactive board.
- Suggested timing 1-2 hours.
Tin Foil Electronics with the micro:bit ⚡📦
- In this session I will explore using tin foil, crocodile clips and cardboard to create engaging problem solving and project based learning.
- Staff should have access to a Laptop/Chromebook/iPad with an internet connection and your school’s box of micro:bits (Scottish Schools should have at least 20 micro:bits from an Education Scotland roll out).
- I will need access to a screen ideally an interactive board.
- Suggested timing 1-2 hours.

Pricing for 2025/26 📄
- Full School Day (9-3pm) £180
- Half Day (Morning or Afternoon) £110
- In Person CPD (1-2hours) £80
- Online CPD (1-2hours) £65
- Online Coding with class (45mins-1hour) £45
- Plus travel from Elgin, Moray – 15p per mile for in person workshops. Distances more than 90mins drive from Elgin will require an overnight accommodation cost – enquire for a price.
- Pupil workshops and staff training can be combined on the same day at a discounted cost.
