micro:bit Resources

Collage of 16 pictures of the micro:bit in front of school buildings or in classrooms.

I am a big fan of the micro:bit. They may be small but they can do soo much to develop digital skills, problem solving and creativity across the curriculum.

In 2022 I had the unique opportunity to develop a series of micro:bit lessons for my Local Authority, Moray in Scotland. Since then I have delivered my ‘Starter’ Lesson to more than 1500 primary aged learners and developed a further two lesson blocks that provide progression.

Each block contains 5-6 fully resourced lessons with Videos, Lesson Plans, PowerPoints and Code. Each block finishes with a problem solving challenge that allows learners to be creative in developing a solution using the micro:bit.

The lessons are aimed at P4-7 (Yr3-6, aged 7-12) but could be adapted for use with older or younger learners. Regardless of age, if your learners have not used micro:bits before the best place to start is the ‘Starter Lessons’ followed by the ‘Beyond Basics’ Lessons.

Watch a video introduction to the resources HERE.

The resources were created as part of my role in the Digital Learning Team at Moray Council. They are provided below to benefit as many learners as possible, please feel free to adapt them to your learners and most importantly share them with others educators across the world.

I look forward to hearing about what your learners achieve, do reach out with success stories through the contact page or on X/Twitter @MrMorrison_.
